Counter-Culture Poetry: Solovox and an Anniversary

By Colin McGregor

On Wednesday September 17th, Montreal poet Éric Roger will celebrate 25 years of his famous monthly poetry readings Solovox with an anniversary show at La Petite Marche restaurant, 5035 St-Denis, at 6 p.m. These poetry readings have been frequented by the best and the brightest of Montreal’a French language counter-culture poetry litterati through the years. Chosen poets are given a few minutes each to read their works, all with piano accompaniment. The atmosphere is relaxed yet focused on the odes. At the end there is an open mike opportunity for budding Longfellows to present their own creations – in three minutes! professors, ditch-diggers, psychologists anddog-walkers make up this eclectic band of poetry lovers.

An entrance offering of $10 in cash is requested at the door.
