We at The Social Eyes are delighted to announce that our colleague, the young journalist Oumou Diakité, 23, has been awarded a YMCA Peace Prize. The ceremony took place at the annual YMCA Peace Prize Gala held in Montreal recently.
Ms. Diakité, a fervent defender of the rights of the dispossessed in her journalism work, was given the award by Co-Founder and President of the Peace Network for Social Harmony Brian Bronfman. She was one of three recipients of the Peace Prize this year. Hers was awarded in the category of Young Peacemaker (jeune pacificateur).
According to the YMCA, « the Gala is the main flagship event of The YMCAs of Québec Foundation. More than a fundraising dinner, it’s an evening rooted in purpose and bringing together the business community, donors, ambassadors and new allies around the values of peace, social justice, inclusion and equity. »
We see evidence of Ms Diakité’s intelligence and commitment each and every day at her place of work. You can check out her writing on The Social Eyes website or on the Reflet de Société‘s website.
Congratulations!
